Cultural immersion

Our cultural immersion programs give students opportunities to become involved in different communities. Cultural immersion programs may mix Spanish or Mayan language learning, other topics of special interest in the Yucatan, and field trips.

Other courses:

Dance: Jarana and other regional dance, Latin rhythms

Art: Music, painting, photography, engraving, sculpture, drawing

Social studies: Archeology, history, anthropology, ethnography, literature

Other: Spelunking, Yucatecan cuisine, ecology, architecture  

Our cultural immersion programs require at least 3 participants to be able to run. The length of the programs changes depending on the personal objectives and interests of the participants. Programs can be from 2 to 12 weeks long. Below are examples of our cultural immersion programs:  

    14 days 30 days 60 days 90 days
Spanish classes and other courses Professional classroom setting with a professor and no more than 12 students per class 24 class hours 40 class hours 80 class hours 120 class hours
Trips Traveling outside of Merida or even out of the Yucatan - these trips can be to archaeological sites, natural reserves, caves, rainforest, beaches or other regional attractions 6 7 8 9
Activities Activities outside the classroom in the city such as visits to museums, festivals, and markets  7 8 9 10
Additional classes and Workshops Complementary courses or workshops in topics such as dance, regional cuisine, Maya language, anthropology, or folklore 0 1 2 3
